How can space comfort the human heart?
Notjust in the carving of the shape, the fostering of the sentiment, orattending to craft details, but also concerting all tangible and intangible factors: congeniality.
This case involved therenovation of anold house with anactual indoor area of about34 ping (1ping ≈3.306 m2). As theoriginal framework no longer met thecustomer’snew needs, theGuru Interior Design team removed all the olddecorations andcompartments, reexamined thefloor plan, and reset themovingroutes, whichachieved the first step in the complete remodeling of the space. From the public space to the privateareas, the excessive magnificence thathadeasily causedsatiation wasfiltered, andreplaced with materials that embody animperturbable disposition, such aswood, stone, and ironas the main axes. In particular, the exquisite workmanship in the junction components of different materials isfar beyond tranquility, but transcends time and becomes aclassic
No standard partitionwas adopted for theentryway, allowing for a broad and deep view when entering the house. The concept of a “spiritual pillar” was incorporated in theturning point beside the door, withgolden brown titanium-plated metal foldsirregularly wrapping thestructuralturning point. The surface of themetal looks likeit has been whittled by a sharpgemstone, and the matchingsoft backlight seems to be thehighlight of the decoration, pleasing the eyes and the mind. This also echoes the metalworkprofession, which the homeowner is engaged in, and coincides withsensation, elegance, and beauty.
The flat and clean ceilingin the public area effectively raises the view from theangle of elevation. The linear deconstruction oftheTV wall and sofa back wallinthe living room is expressed differently. First, the TV wall, made of a large amount of steel-brushed wood, isshared between the living room and the study room. AnX-shaped three-dimensionalprofile design has been introduced into the front elevation. Theabstract strokes create surprisesfrom different angles under the backlit shadows. Apiece ofdecorativeiron frame embedded withthinstoneslateshas been hungon each side, whichnot only adds layers to the composition of the TV wall but also creatively presents the concept of movingthecompartment forward. The gray glass under the iron frameallowsfora view of the gleaming studyroomarea behind the wall. Thesofa back wall, madeof straight slitting, twisting, andrandomsplicing ofmatte marble, shows anatural texture thatis far more charming than can be found with deliberately createdpatterns. Through the setting off by thebacklight and the intentional avoidance of reaching the ceiling, atouchingpurity andgrace naturallyarises. An electric fireplace is embedded on the left side to give the space just the right personality and temperature.
A three-in-one layout has been adopted from thedining room to the kitchen, starting with a marble dining table, and thena special islandcounter withasinkanddrinking facilities, and finally connecting withthe sliding door, thus forming aclosed movingkitchen pathway. The threeserve aseach other’s front andback scenes, withexcellent interactive function. From the appearance of the island counter, the titanium-plated door frame, and other details, we can see the designer’s unremitting efforts.
